WinterFest: Arts & Trolley Tour

145 Artists, Three Locations, Two Days, One Price

In February 2017, Sautee Nacoochee Centeris partnering with Unicoi State Park and Lodge and Helen Arts & Heritage Center for its inauguralWinterFest: Arts & Trolley Tour. This festival will include 145 Artists, Over 2 Days, 3 Locations, for 1 Ticket Price.

WinterFest is February 18th& 19th at Unicoi State Park and Lodge (Fireside Arts & Crafts Show), Helen Arts & Heritage (Helen Winter Festival) and Sautee Nacoochee Center (Sautee Nacoochee Arts Festival 2017). The Festival hours on Saturday will be from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and on Sundayfrom 10:00 am to 4:00 p.m.

Watch live art demonstrations throughout the two-day festival as artists actively create and bring to life new and exciting pieces. Pottery, paintings, jewelry, fused glass, fiber art and more make up a variety of the artwork available in both the galleries and festival. Guests may register for drawings held throughout the weekend for opportunities to win original art and fine craft prizes, all donated by local artisans.

Hop on Hop Off Trolley Service is being offered on both days, Saturday and Sunday,connecting the three venues. Free parking is available at Unicoi State Park and Lodge and Sautee Nacoochee Cultural Center. Transportation will leave on the hour and half hour from Unicoi Lodge and Sautee Nacoochee Cultural Center and include stops at Unicoi, Helen Arts and Heritage Center, and Sautee Nacoochee Cultural Center. Trolley Transportation will be provided by VIP Southern Tours,and supplemental transportation will be available with mini buses.

Amulti-part ticket will be available that includes transportation. When this ticket is stamped at each of the all three locations, it will make the visitor eligible to enter a drawing for artwork from local artists. Hop-On and see the sights of Unicoi State Park and Lodge, City of Helen, and Sautee Nacoochee Historic Districts. Hop-Off and experience the 145 Artists and Crafters demonstrating and selling unique art representing the North Georgia Appalachian Foot Hills. The Center will sell additional raffle tickets for regional artists’prizes.

Fireside Arts and Craft Show at Unicoi State Park and Lodge is in its 42nd year. Fireside has unique Arts and Crafts Items. We have artisans that have attended the show since its inception 42 years ago. This year we will host the artist that has made Fireside a tradition and new artist that have joined the show for 2017. Hours on Sunday are 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Fireside will host more than 50 artisans and crafters in 2017.

Experience a mixture of heritage, art, and fine craft at the Helen Winter Art Festival, an indoor marketplace held at the Helen Arts & Heritage Center located in the heart of Alpine Helen.Guests may register for drawings held throughout the weekend for opportunities to win original art and fine craft prizes, all donated by local artisans. The center's heritage museum holds the true and unique "Story of Helen" and offers a reflection of Alpine Helen's 100-year journey, of which has made it the 3rd most visited city attraction in Georgia. Currently, over 25 artists are scheduled to attend and over 75 artists are represented in the galleries.

The Sautee Nacoochee Art Festival will begin Friday evening, February 17, with a preview party for the public at 6:00 p.m. The preview party will be accessible by pre-paid registration. Admission charge includes hors d’oeuvres and wine tastings from six local wineries. This is your opportunity to view and buy artwork before the Festival officially opens Saturday morning. Over 40 Artists are currently scheduled to attend with 150additional artists represented in the Folk Pottery Museum of Northeast Georgia and Sautee Nacoochee Cultural Center Galleries.

On the weekend during the Art Festival, the Sautee Nacoochee Cultural Center offers a wealth of art and heritage. You can enjoy the art in the twin galleries crafted by artists who live within a 50-mile radius of the center, visit the heritage site log cabin and the blacksmith shed, and take a journey back 200 years into the history of local folk pottery artisans by visiting the Folk Pottery Museum of Northeast Georgia on the SNC campus. Witness all that SNC has preserved and protected in the Sautee and Nacoochee valleys over the past 35 years of our history.

After hours activities include,Valley Harmony Radio Showoffered on Saturday, February 18 at 7:30 pm and Sunday, February 19, at 4:00 pm in the Center Theater at the Sautee Nacoochee Center. This performance features local talent in a “Radio Show” format that explores the land of the Gourdhead Cowboys, bad jokes, fun skits and Drake Friday drama. The show is free with a pass-the-hat donation request. Seating is general and limited to 90 patrons. Doors open an hour before the performance and seating are on a “first come first serve” basis (no reservations), so come early!
