Building History:
Built around 1911, Wildewood was originally a row house built for laborers working for the Byrd-Matthews lumber company. River Street was first called "Red Row," referring to the row of red homes built here just before Helen became a city in 1913. Wildewood obtained it's name from being a rafting outpost, which then turned into a gift shop known for its wind chimes & rocks. Wildewood is now under new ownership and was recently remodeled & upgraded but with the original character left intact. The shop is owned and operated by natives of the area who have roots that go deep into Helen's history.
